Sometimes life gets busy or we are just feeling under the weather, and that’s ok! This virtual platform allows us to continue to provide effective physiotherapy assessments and treatments when an in-person appointment, for whatever reason, is not possible. Although the hands-on component will not be there, We will still be able to provide the same exceptional care given in the clinic. That being said, some problems are not always appropriate for telehealth. Be sure to contact us or book a free virtual consultation to see if telehealth might be a good option for you!

Telehealth FAQ

What is telehealth? Telehealth is virtual physiotherapy consultation. It will involve a lot of the same things we do in the clinic such as: assessment of range of motion, functional movement and strength, along with the prescription of mobility/self release techniques and strengthening exercises. FreeForm Physio uses JaneApp, which is a secure and confidential program. JaneApp is also the same program you use to book your physiotherapy appointments online, so you already have access to this virtual platform!

Can all issues be treated via telehealth? Unfortunately no. Although several injuries can be addressed via telehealth, an in-person appointment is sometimes needed for certain conditions. Your issue may also not be suitable for physiotherapy at all and a referral to another health care practitioner may be required.  If you are unsure whether your problem is telehealth appropriate book a free 15-minute online consultation or contact us to inquire.

Will my insurance cover telehealth? Will you direct bill to my insurance provider for telehealth? A lot of insurance companies are now providing coverage for telehealth, however we cannot ensure that all will. It is highly recommend that you contact your insurance provider before booking a telehealth appointment to confirm that virtual therapy session will be covered.

Like in-person sessions, FreeForm does offer direct billing to a select few extended health insurance providers (Pacific Blue Cross, Manulife, Canada Life, Sun Life, Desjardins Insurance, GroupHealth and the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan). For all other insurance plans, or for those who would prefer to pay privately, a receipt will be provided following your appointment with all the details needed to receive reimbursement from your provider.

What do I need before starting my telehealth appointment?

  • JaneApp recommends using a computer or laptop and using Chrome or Opera

  • Android devices work best with Chrome; if you are using an iOS device you will need the Jane Online Appointments app which is available on the app store

  • You will need an internet connection speed of 15 Mbps or higher (check your connection at fast.com before beginning)

  • Ensure you have a working camera and microphone on your device

  • Earbuds may be helpful for clearer sound and to give you the ability to move (not necessary)

  • Give yourself some space and good lighting to move around and be seen by your therapist. Ensure your space is private and free of distraction so that you get the most out of this session

  • Dress as you would for an in-person appointment (we recommend shorts and a tank top/t-shirt). Be ready to move!

  • Equipment that may be helpful (but NOT required) - yoga mat, mobility balls, foam roller, resistance bands and weights
