Your physiotherapy treatment may include a combination of clinical Pilates, strength/mobility training, manual therapy, soft tissue therapy and dry needling. We do not believe in providing solely passive therapy, so come prepared to move!

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is often spoken of when discussing common physiotherapy services, but what exactly does it mean? Manual therapy is any kind of hands-on treatment intended to reduce inflammation and movement restriction, improve tissue extensibility, increase range of motion of the joint complex, change muscle function, modulate pain, and induce relaxation. Treatment includes passive range of motion, gliding joints in specific directions (joint mobilization), stretching, soft tissue release techniques and mobilizations of the nervous system.

Dry Needling

Unlike traditional acupuncture, dry needling targets specific anatomical structures that are the underlying cause of musculoskeletal conditions. Insertion of needles into these specific areas helps to control pain, improve function, and speed up healing. The insertion of needles into the tissue causes the release of substances that help improve blood flow to areas of tightness and decrease pain sensitivity.

A thorough initial assessment is needed with your physiotherapist to determine if this treatment is appropriate for you.
