Clinical Pilates Physiotherapy

NOTE: THIS IS NOT FITNESS PILATES

This is a physiotherapy session, using the concepts of Pilates to assist in the rehabilitation of an injury or dysfunction in the body. Like all physiotherapy sessions at FreeForm, these appointments are one-on-one, and led by a registered physiotherapist.

Clinical Pilates integrates physiotherapy with the principles and philosophy of Joseph Pilates’ original work. This approach to therapy is unique in that it incorporates current knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and kinesiology, whilst using clinical reasoning skills to tailor a Pilates program specifically for rehabilitation and injury prevention.

Before beginning a pilates based rehabilitation, each client will be taken through a thorough initial examination so that a program can be tailored specifically to their needs (this initial assessment is required). Each follow-up session may consist of a combination of manual treatment followed by movement on the Pilates equipment (Reformer, Tower, Chair or Mat) with guidance from a physiotherapist. Following the session, each client will be provided a home exercise program and/or advice and education on how to incorporate what they heave learned that session into their everyday life or sport.

Clinical Pilates Physiotherapy is for anyone of any age, activity level, shape or size, so long as you are motivated to learn more about yourself and get better!
